Must-Have Upscale Wine and Spirits

Alcoholic beverages are a significant part of many cultures, and have been around since hunter-gatherer times. As humans have evolved, so have our tastes when it comes to alcohol, meaning that producers are now creating some exceptional products in order to cater to this newly-refined palette. From the most expensive red wine on the market to rare, limited edition whiskeys, these wines and spirits definitely deserve their very own spot in your home bar.

When it comes to purchasing an upscale whiskey, you need to ensure that the quality emphasis is placed on the beverage itself rather than the packaging, although this too can be said for all drinks in general. Japanese whiskeys have been especially popular in recent years, with flavors that are just as complex as a true Scotch, and the Suntory Hibiki 30 Year Blended, as well as the Yamazaki 50 Year Single Malt, are both proof of this. For those wanting a traditional Scotch, there are only 60 bottles of the Dalmore 50 available, and, being one of the only Scotches that have been bottled at cask strength, is considered to be one of the best 50 year olds around.

Red Wine
Chateau Margaux is a wine producer that has quite the reputation, and there are a couple of vintages produced by the estate that are well worth owning. The Chateau Margaux 2009 Balthazar can be purchased in three liter bottles, and is only available from Le Clos, an exclusive wine merchant found at the Dubai International Airport, while the Chateau Margaux 1787 is known as the most exclusive wine in the world. For those that would prefer a Pinot Noir, the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti 1990 is one of the world’s finest, and also extremely limited, containing grapes that have been grown on vines that are over 50 years old.

White Wine
There are many fine white wines out there from all over the world, but one rare white vintage that is definitely a must-have is the 1811 Chateau d’Yquem, which comes from the producer’s most prestigious batch. The vineyard itself was established in 1711 in France’s wine-making Bordeaux region, and this is one of the few wines to be considered absolutely perfect by many a critic.

When it comes to limited edition rum mixtures, Legacy by Angostura is an upscale spirit that would take your home bar to the next level. This rum was specially crafted in honor of Trinidad and Tobago’s 50 year independence anniversary, and only 20 decanters of the rum were put up for sale. Each of the rums used in this blend have been aged for at least 17 years, and the crystal decanter and decadent case that the rum comes in, both designed by Asprey’s of London, make it even more luxurious.

While you may not be able to stock your bar with all of these bottles, these beverages are a guaranteed way to impress even the most discerning guest. Each of these wines and spirits boast a one-of-a-kind flavor, making every sip that you take worth savoring.
